Nick and his parents are from the country of Homeland. He has just moved to America— a strange new place where he doesn’t even speak the language. Nick struggles to find his bearings and make friends in his new home. He desperately wants to fit in with his school mates, he teaches his own mother about perseverance and making a new start. The playwright plunges the audience into Nick’s experience by having him and his mother speak English, even as the others speak a comic, invented language. This humorous and unforgettable play challenges everyone to question bullying and prejudice and to welcome the new perspectives newcomers can bring.

Music From Scratch Presented by Percussion Group Cincinnati

A trio of master percussionists, this ensemble in residence from the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music creates a landscape of sound that has been enjoyed by audiences around the globe. Percussion Group Cincinnati employs the entire spctra of percussion instruments from piano, drums, cymbals, gongs and marimbas to amplified cactus needles, newspapers, and even garbage cans.
The Garden of Rikki Tikki Tavi Presented by Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park

This free-flowing comic brawl is a loose adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s classic children’s tale Rikki-Tikki-Tavi. Darzee, the diva tailor bird, is incensed when Rikki Tikki Tavi, a young mongoose, washes up in her pristine garden. Darzee and her friend, Chuchu, pull out all the stops in their attempt to run off the pesky mongoose until they see that Nag, a cobra and the garden despot, runs in fear at the sight of a mongoose on the loose. This comedy about sharing and cooperation has received numerous productions across the country. Award-winning playwright Y. York is known for her adaptations of contemporary classics.
